Cyberpunk 2077 quickhacks missing: check your operating system first
If quickhacks disappear after changing operating-system cyberware, check what replaced your cyberdeck. Sandevistan and Berserk serve different purposes. Increasing a resource budget cannot restore a hacking function that your installed operating system does not provide.
Reviewed 2026-10-15 · Standard unmodded 2.x cyberware and netrunning; older releases and mods differ
Start with the installed operating-system item
Open the cyberware screen and read the item in the operating-system slot. A cyberdeck provides scanner quickhacking. Sandevistan provides its time-slowing ability; Berserk is another operating-system choice. They are not interchangeable versions of the same hacking tool.
For example, a character swaps a cyberdeck for Sandevistan, then cannot find the familiar quickhack actions. The first decision is whether to keep the new combat ability or return to a cyberdeck. Buying more RAM-related upgrades does not answer that choice.
With a cyberdeck installed, inspect the hacking interface
Check that the intended quickhacks are installed and inspect the scanner's hacking view on a suitable target. The scanner also presents information, so read the active tab and the available actions rather than assuming every scan is a hacking menu.
Compare two symptoms: no quickhacking capability after replacing the operating system, and a visible quickhack that cannot currently be afforded or applied. The first points to your equipment choice. The second calls for reading the displayed cost and target restriction. Do not rebuild several systems before identifying which symptom you have.
Use guidance from the correct game revision
Update 2.0 changed RAM costs and netrunning and removed the old enemy Breach Protocol system. A pre-2.0 sequence can therefore describe actions your current interface no longer offers.
Overclock is a specific build ability that can use health when RAM is insufficient. It is not a universal default on every character, and it does not replace the need for the appropriate hacking setup. Check the current perk and cyberware descriptions before copying a resource loop.
When your plan breaks
| What happens | What to change |
|---|---|
| Quickhacks vanished after a cyberware change | Read the operating-system slot and confirm that you still have a cyberdeck. |
| The scanner shows information but not the expected actions | Check the hacking view, installed quickhacks and whether the target supports the intended action. |
| A quickhack is listed but unavailable | Read its displayed cost and restriction; that differs from having no cyberdeck. |
| A guide tells me to use enemy Breach Protocol | Check its release date and version. Update 2.0 removed that older enemy-hacking system. |
Quick answers
Does Sandevistan work like a cyberdeck with fewer hacks?
No. In the standard operating-system setup it supplies a different ability, not the cyberdeck's scanner quickhacking.
Can every build spend health instead of RAM?
Do not assume so. Overclock is a specific ability with its own requirements and costs.

CD Projekt Red's update notes establish the 2.x netrunning context; the community cyberware reference distinguishes operating-system functions. The missing-menu example is a diagnostic example, not a claim that every target or mod uses the same rules.
