Dead by Daylight: why mending did not fully heal you
Mending Deep Wound normally leaves a Survivor Injured. It is not the same action as returning to Healthy. If a subsequent heal is unavailable, check for Broken before blaming the med-kit or trying the same interaction again.

Identify Deep Wound before choosing an action
Deep Wound has its own HUD indication and requires Mending, either by yourself or with another Survivor's help. If its timer expires, the affected Survivor enters the Dying state. Check the actual state rather than treating every injury as the same healing task.
When Mending completes, check the HUD again. Removing Deep Wound and becoming Healthy are separate outcomes. Being Injured afterward does not, by itself, mean the Mend failed.
Check Broken before arranging a full heal
Broken prevents healing past Injured while its effect applies. A different teammate or another ordinary healing attempt does not remove that restriction. Look for its HUD icon and identify the effect that applied it.
Do not assume every Broken effect has the same duration or removal condition. Read the relevant perk, power or add-on. Plan what to do while healing is restricted instead of repeatedly gathering teammates for an unavailable action.
Work through a Legion example without generalizing it
The Legion Pin add-on can apply Broken when a Survivor self-mends the Deep Wound associated with its condition. In that case, finishing the Mend can remove Deep Wound while still leaving a reason that a full heal is unavailable.
That is an add-on interaction, not a rule that every Legion match automatically makes all mended Survivors Broken. Diagnose the observed HUD state and the relevant loadout condition before deciding how to respond.
When your plan breaks
| What happens | What to change |
|---|---|
| I finished Mending but still look injured | That is the normal distinction: Mending removes Deep Wound; it does not necessarily return you to Healthy. |
| A teammate cannot heal me to full health | Check Broken and the effect responsible before changing healer or item. |
| I keep going down while delaying the Mend | Monitor the Deep Wound state and its timer; ordinary injury planning does not remove that requirement. |
| A Legion match behaved differently from the previous one | Check add-ons and effects. Do not assume the Legion Pin interaction is present in every match. |
Quick answers
Are Mending and healing to Healthy interchangeable?
No. Deep Wound has a distinct treatment and normally resolves to Injured.
Can another Survivor bypass Broken with a normal heal?
Broken blocks healing past Injured while applicable. Check its source and removal condition rather than changing healers.
