Palworld Pals not working: check the job before replacing the Pal

An idle station does not automatically mean its assigned Pal is too weak. First match the station’s required work skill, confirm there is a task to perform, and observe whether the Pal can reach it. Then investigate competing jobs, hunger and SAN.

Match the work icon, not the combat role

Base work uses Work Suitability skills. Kindling operates heat-based facilities such as furnaces and cooking stations. Watering serves different facilities and crop tasks. Check the Pal’s work icons and the station requirement instead of choosing by combat strength alone.

For example, an available Pal that can water a plantation is not a substitute for the Kindling worker needed by your furnace. Solve the missing work type first. Comparing work levels becomes useful only after you have the correct kind of worker.

Confirm the job exists and can be reached

Inspect the station: is there a recipe or task waiting, and does the interface show the required inputs? An idle building without a ready job is a different problem from a worker refusing an available task.

Next watch a short trip to the station. If the Pal repeatedly approaches and turns back, simplify that route. Remove one obvious obstruction or create more room around the station and observe again. This is a diagnostic suggestion, not a guarantee that every pathfinding bug can be fixed by moving furniture.

Watch which job the Pal actually chooses

A Pal can have several work capabilities. An appropriate worker may be occupied elsewhere rather than unavailable. Observe its current action before adding another Pal or constructing a duplicate station.

If your release provides work-assignment or monitoring controls, use them to make one station the clear test case. Keep the job, inputs and route consistent while you test. A change that increases speed is different from one that merely moves work from another unfinished station.

Check condition before increasing work pressure

Work can reduce SAN, and low SAN can lead to breaks and afflictions. Hunger also affects SAN. Beds, suitable food and hot springs are part of base operation, not only decoration.

When several Pals stop being productive, inspect the shared conditions before blaming each one. Check access to food and resting facilities, then review work intensity. Increasing pressure on an already unhealthy workforce is a poor first diagnostic step. Treat injuries or other displayed conditions using the options available in your version.

Quick answers

Should I always replace an idle Pal with a higher-level one?

No. First confirm the required work type and an accessible, ready task. A stronger worker does not fix a missing recipe or a blocked route.

Can the same Pal be useful at one station but not another?

Yes. Different work types serve different tasks. Read the station’s requirement and the Pal’s suitability icons.
